Halebeedu & Belur

Halebeedu and Belur are famous for their temples of Hoysala architecture. It was a two-day trip completely focused on to visit the two temples, one is Hoysaleswara temple at Halebeedu, and another is Chennakeshava temple at Belur. Both are the 12th-century Hindu temples and are masterpieces of architecture of that time.

GET IN: We decided to visit Halebeedu first, which is ~220 km from Bangalore. The roads is great throughout. The next day we went to Belur, which is only 17 km from Halebeedu.

STAY: We decided to book the KSTDC hotel at Halebeedu. While the room is well maintained, staffs were helpful, and the lunch was good, in dinner we were served spoiled food. The ambiance is nice and we overall enjoyed the stay there.

GET AROUND: The first day our destination was Hoysaleswara temple at Halebeedu. No amount of words will be sufficient to describe the elegance of this temple, so let me not try that. The only suggestion would be if you like temple architecture and/or want to see the best of Hoysala architecture, please visit this temple, addition to those at Belur and Somanathapura.

The next day we visited the Chennakeshava Temple at Belur, and the same goes true for this masterpiece too.
